Shy

I was so shy when I came to the U.S. I didn't talk to anybody. My cousin told me if I really want to speak English I must talk to other people. I tried to make friends but I thought they didn't like me. My cousin was born here. I started talking with her in English if I say something wrong she always tell me the right way. She told me i must work somewhere. I started working  at Chuck E. Cheese. I think everybody should work. When I am at work I talk a lot. Its really good for me. I think if you are shy you can't do anything. Everybody has different thinking.

  1. Being shy does limit your opportunities and life. I wish I could go back to junior high and high school and be less shy. I would have been so much happier. I don't think it's easy to change, though. You were probably not shy in your country and just needed some confidence to be outgoing in the U.S. Working can be a great way to break into American culture and learn English. Your cousin gave you good advice.
